How to check a used engine in Morocco before buying
The right engine is not merely one that starts. It must be identifiable, compatible and sold with a written description of the tests and included parts.
Confirm code and compatibility
Record the engine code, available part number, donor vehicle, year and powertrain. The same commercial model can use different engines and peripherals, so appearance alone is not proof.
Ask for evidence in known conditions
If installed, request a continuous cold-start, idle and gentle-rev video. If removed, ask exactly which tests were performed and by whom.
- Check visible fluids, leaks and impact damage.
- Record broken connectors and threads.
- List included turbo, injection, starter and wiring.
Interpret symptoms cautiously
Persistent smoke, knock, abnormal pressure or overheating requires diagnosis. A short video cannot guarantee internal condition; use a mechanic familiar with that engine family.
Write the conditions before payment
Record the complete reference, included equipment, performed tests, known faults, any test period, return terms, transport and installation responsibilities. Do not confuse used, tested and rebuilt engines.
