Used-car inspection in Morocco: what to check
A useful inspection separates observed facts, completed tests and unknown information. It documents condition without promising that a vehicle is perfect.
Prepare a repeatable inspection
Inspect in daylight, on level ground and preferably with a cold engine. Use the same checklist for every car so appearance or price does not distract from safety and condition.
- Photograph every side and accessible underside.
- Record warning lights before and after starting.
- Separate observations from seller statements.
Body, structure and safety
Look for panel misalignment, paint differences, welding, damaged mountings, glass dates and uneven tyre wear. Accident repairs, airbags and structural points should be checked by a properly equipped professional.
Engine, transmission and road test
Check leaks, fluid contamination, persistent smoke, temperature and unusual noise. Verify smooth gear engagement, steering, braking and vibration during a safe authorised drive. Electronic diagnostics add evidence but do not prove mechanical health alone.
Demand a report with clear limits
A reliable report states the date, place, conditions, tests performed, observed faults and anything not tested. A warranty should only be advertised when a precise contract and identified provider actually supply it.
